After a long time, I wanted to reinstall my website space. I was previously using CentOS 6, but I chose CentOS 8 from the options. However, I found out that I couldn't install the VSCode service. After checking the logs, I realized that even the tar command was missing. I tried to manually install it, but encountered other problems one after another. In the end, I gave up and decided to try CentOS 7 instead.

Here is the record of the unsuccessful attempts to solve the problem:
tar --version
# -bash: tar: command not found
yum install -y tar
# CentOS-8 - AppStream 73 B/s | 38 B 00:00
# Failed to download metadata for repo 'AppStream'
# Error: Failed to download metadata for repo 'AppStream'
# It's ridiculous. I tried following the methods I found through searching, but still couldn't solve it. The error changed to:
# Error: There are no enabled repositories in "/etc/yum.repos.d", "/etc/yum/repos.d", "/etc/distro.repos.d".
# Oh well, let's try CentOS 7 instead;
