I installed the Tongwen input method on my new phone, found a custom solution in the repository, which was last updated in 2016. After actual deployment, I found that there was no response when switching to the numeric keyboard, so I forked it and planned to study and improve it slowly.
I actually chose the WeChat input method, and after using it for more than half a year, I still couldn't adapt, so I decided to study the Tongwen input method again. I installed the input method app on my secondary phone, imported the configuration file, and found that it seemed to work??
On my main device, I directly encountered a conflict during the update prompt, so I uninstalled and reinstalled it. My first experience felt like it indeed worked, although the word bank is relatively small, and I still need to adapt to the sorting habits (there is also an automatic sorting feature), so I’ll just use it for now.
As for the WeChat input method, I find typing in Chinese difficult because I'm not used to Pinyin or the full keyboard Wubi, but inputting symbols and numbers is also quite awkward. I really don't understand its design. Today, because I needed to send a monitor's resolution, I found the multiplication sign in the middle and ended up using handwriting because neither Pinyin nor full keyboard Wubi could be used efficiently. For the past six months, I've mainly relied on handwriting, but my handwriting is also quite poor.
